![]() I had arrived home from 6 months abroad, with an extra bag full of pre-loved clothing, mementos of our trip - a whole 20kg worth! I was young, irresponsible and broke... again THANKS MUM! I moved back into our family on the NW coast. Straight away I was busying myself with brain storming and putting together my ideas for what would eventually be The Clothing Cupboard. I began up-cycling and creating my own clothing to sell, and met some like minded gals who were sewing guru's, creators and up-cyclers as well! Together we held our first 'market style' stall space at local Tasmanian festival Party In The Paddock. From there I got an idea of where I wanted to go and so I started looking for the "Perfect space"... ~"Our first customer in an outfit I up-cycled at Party In The Paddock" I wanted charming, cheap and accessible! These 3 ticks were much harder to achieve than I first thought... I needed space, I needed money... I needed help! It was a Sunday drive through Forth that I saw it.. The Forth Hall.. it was big, it had mass parking close by and so I made an appointment to check it out. I was charmed by the interior instantly, but my heart sank at the price... I was just starting out, I didn't know how the community would react to my event and I couldn't see myself being able to cover costs. I didn't want to charge crazy amounts for stalls, it wasn't what the concept was about. But thankfully Ray and The Lyons Club heard out my rambling of what I was trying to achieve and came to my rescue! And so I set my first market date. My first market I didn't even break even and it was hard work! Although I was never in it for the money, and I just wanted a fun hobby, I didn't want it to run at a cost to me. But hey I was new to this, it was a learning curve and I wasn't going to quit after one market! And so with determination and helping hands I started planning the next one... *Thankyou to my family, friends, partner and Jane from Treasured Vintage Rentals for all of your support, helping hands and listening ears. You guys rock!

The Clothing Cupboard Blog
There is just something so inspiring about markets and re-loving clothing. I love seeing the diversity of clothing when it is re-loved & peoples personalities spill out through their wardrobe. Previous Posts
